Caron
I am a Christian with a physical disability, I'm single and never had sex. I am unable to get out on my own. I am ashamed of myself I keep repenting but keep falling into the same trap of looking at sexual content on the internet, being aroused and masturbating, Then I feel really guilty. I think the main reason I do this is for comfort. Unable to talk to anyone about this.
PatBatemanBlog
Hi Caron- you've made the first step by talking here so well done. I think religion can sometimes get in the way of helping people with these problems as they usually associate a lot of guilt with sexual activity of any kind, so I'd say first try to keep religion and arousal separate in your mind. Next I suggest talking to your GP about this- hopefully he'll forward you to someone who can help. The main advice I've been given is to try to enjoy other things than porn, and to distract myself from that content with other enjoyment. Don't forget, though, sexual urges are natural and not to be ashamed of per se. Let us know how you get on.
PJ
Hi CaronThat can't be easy - having sexual need but not fulfilling it in a way that fits with your values.I would encourage you to speak to your pastor/priest - my experience is that very often they have heard it all before (and won't bat an eyelid) but most significantly the power of the secrecy and the shame is significantly reduced. Confide in some trusted friends/family about your predicament.
EDD
Try satisfying yourself without watching porn. When you do that, concentrate on what you feel physically instead of imagining and chasing arousing scenes in your head. Turn it into purely mechanical thing separating from the self-destructing and anti-christian addiction. You CAN satisfy yourself without committing a sin. Shoot the priest who convinces you otherwise.Christ said, you have to love others like you love yourself. I would like put emphasis on yourself here. Christ does not want you to hate people around you the way you hate yourself. Deal with it. Edited April 23, 2017 by EDD
EDD
Holy fathers also write that you have to take care and nurture you body as it is vessel of your soul. Taking care of it does not hurt the soul. Images do. Don't blame your body for your unhappiness. Treat it well so your love can shine outside you. Just remove the images from the exercise as they are the actual problem. Edited April 23, 2017 by EDD

Christine
Have you seen the book on Confronting Porn, it is for Christians, you may find this book supportive in addressing your issues. Also see if the charity Naked Truth can be a place of hope for you. Is their a way of being able to socialise more in Church activities to reduce your isolation? Hope things work out for you.
